moose is the second coin in our Imposing Icons series, which invites you to get
up close and personal with Canada’s wild animal icons. With a 50 mm diameter,
the coin’s reverse allows plenty of room for a selectively colored
nose-to-muzzle meeting in an engraved natural setting. This might be your
closest encounter with the reclusive moose!
Design:
Designed
by artist Maurade Baynton, the reverse features a selectively colored, close-up
view of the moose (Alces alces). The finely engraved backdrop showcases the
moose’s natural habitat: the boreal forest that stretches across Canada. The
obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
